Festive Period Ringing
Come and join us for ringing any Sunday but especially over the festive period we shall be ringing for the following events and services.
11.30pm - 12.15am New Year's Eve - Nether Whitacre Midnight celebrations
When the bells rang out on 11th November 1918 to commemorate the Armistice the bellringing community mourned 1400 ringers. With the 100 anniversary being this year the Central Council of Bellringers has started a Ringing Remembers scheme which aims to recruit 1400 new ringers to ring for the remembrance services this year and hopefully continue their interest.
Find out more here.
Whitacre has two ringers learning who have learnt and have now received their badges and certificates. Both were able to ring for this years Remembrance service. They have registered to make themselves part of the 1400 new recruits.
St Giles rang half muffled for the morning service and then open at 7.05pm as part of the Battle Over celebrations. Do listen out for the bells which will be half muffled. A most distinctive sound. Listen here and find out more about half muffling here
