A good turnout tonight meant we have had a busy practice evening. Suspect this is before the mass exodus for holidays but it was a pleasant evening with grandsire and plain bob being practised as usual as well as venturing to Plain Bob Minor and Stedman doubles. We even had a band to ring some spliced doubles which really pushed the boat out for some.
Good ringing tonight as we had no less than the Guild Master of St Martins Guild Simon Linford join us. We had a good time ringing a number methods and even taught our visitor a new one - Stedman quick six! Many thanks for joining us.
On the very last blow of the practice tonight as the "and catch in rounds" command was issued the treble bell struck and then the rope came tumbling down over the ringer. Much mirth and hilarity was forthcoming over the chances of the new ropes being used but yet another decent length of rope was found and it looks like it will be a splice again to save the day. However now with no spare rope to use the chances are that the new ropes will get used soon.
We have had a busy practice night and welcomed two new ringing visitors from neighbouring Shustoke and Coleshill, Both did very well and it allowed us to do some things differently - Grandsire was introduced with much amusement in the Minor form.
A packed practice night saw the Coleshill band come and join us, to help them gain some further experience at plain hunting. We really were left with standing room only but at least for once everyone had some down time instead of ringing all evening! A busy but pleasant evening was had by all and we hope all enjoyed themselves.
