Smashed wheel

6/5/2019

Second bell pulled off and must have smashed the stay - unfortunately this dropped between the frames and stopped the treble bell dead in the down position smashing the wheel. Had to remove the wheel through the middle floor doors which have never been used since the floor was installed forty years ago. Wheel parts then went down the spiral stairs for assessment. Will need one new horizontal spar and one spoke on the west side.
An unfortunate but quite catastrophic occurrence.
The seconds stay is perhaps the easier fix!

Stay issues

23/2/2017

People have been complaining that the treble stay has deep set for quite a while but upon inspection it seemed to be fine and was not getting worse. However recently one of the two fixing bolts was found loose and when the unit was looked at it was also cracked. This is where the stay team (Maurice and Mike) swing into action. Maurice has copied the pattern in a nice bit of ash and Mike has fitted the unit. Little tight in first offering but then after a tiny fettle the replacement is ready for action. Many thanks to both gentlemen.

Broken Stay Replaced

12/2/2016

Mike and Steve have been busy replacing the stay on the treble which has developed a deeper than normal set position over the last few weeks. The two popped up for a half hour repair which turned into a longer affair when one of the fixing bolts was found to be seized and needed cutting off and replacing. Well done all fixed now.

Smashing return

4/9/2014

Abby dropped in to our practice tonight after a break of some time away at University and pastures new. She picked up where she had left off very rapidly but after she managed to finish off and break the third stay clean through. Not sure that others had not helped in the past with this achievement but she then rang the fourth with no issues at all.
